Return to Lab 00

  1. Copy kuliahos directory to /extra, then get into /extra/kuliahos/NPM/Lab00. Replace NPM with your student ID.
    $ cp -r /home/tc/kuliahos/ /extra/
    $ cd /extra/kuliahos/1202000818/Lab00
  2. Let's create a file named NPM.txt (change NPM with your student ID) using vi text editor. For example I'm using my ID, please replace it with yours.
    $ vi 1202000818.txt
  3. You will enter vi text editor, by default you will be in command mode. To be able to write in this text editor you will have to push "i" button on your keyboard, then type "I'm trying to type using vi in Tiny Core in Virtual Box in Windows in computer in Lab at Fasilkom in UI.", without the quote signs. Then return to command mode by pushing Esc (Escape), save your work and exit vi with command ":wq".
    i
    I'm trying to type using vi in Tiny Core in Virtual Box in Windows in computer in Lab at Fasilkom in UI.
    Esc
    :wq
  4. Your new file is done. Let's change the permission to be able to be read and executed only by group and other users. Don't forget to change my student ID below with yours.
    $ chmod 755 1202000818.txt
  5. Now let's make another file named writable.txt. Inside type "I, your_name, will strive to earn an A in OS.". Change your_name with your name. Also change the file permission to be writable, readable and executable by everyone.
    $ vi writable.txt

    i
    I, your_name, will strive to earn an A in OS.
    Esc
    :wq

    $ chmod 777 writable.txt
  6. In the end of this tutorial you will have three text files, dirlist.txt, NPM.txt and writable.txt.
